History
A story of God’s faithfulness in Maui and through the nations.
How It Started

Grace Bible Church Maui was founded in 1974 by Pastor Eddie and Susan Asato after they led Grace Bible Church Honolulu’s college ministry and planted GBC Kauai Church.
Today, GBC Maui is led by their son, Pastor Jonavan Asato, who became pastor in 2014.
GBC Maui belongs to a family of churches that began with GBC Honolulu. Today, that family includes churches across the Hawaiian Islands, Guam, Saipan, Japan, and Thailand. We are also part of Every Nation, a global family of churches with a presence in nations around the world.
For many years, GBC Maui had two church families: our Kahului family, pastored by Jonavan Asato, and our Wailuku family, pastored by Lance Sokugawa. Before COVID-19, these families met in separate locations. Today, they are united under one roof.
God has blessed Grace Bible Maui with 8.5 acres of land, a preschool, youth ministry, college ministry, leadership development, a committed staff, and a strong presence in the Maui community.
